Saturday round up

10 Dec 2019 by Leon Turner

The 1st team and Devs team were in action on Saturday afternoon, the 1st’s visited Ottershaw with the Devs hosting Byfleet.

The 1st team started looking dangerous in possession but vulnerable out of possession and this summed up the day! With Carl Willis and Joe Lynch unavailable Youth team forward Ryan Porter was rightfully rewarded for his hard work this season with a debut start in the 9 with 15 minutes gone justifiably on his performance Porter scored after fantastic work by Ryan Cook beating several players before finding Porter in the box, his excellent first touch and smart finish put the visitors ahead. Unfortunately a mad 5 minutes in which Manorcroft gifted their hosts two goals was to define the result as Ottershaw took a 2-1 lead with two well taken goals. The Lemons dominated the ball and in the 2nd half especially Ottershaw managed only a couple of forays into the visitors half but credit to them as they parked the proverbial Ottershaw double decker looking to hit the visitors on the counter.
A defeat although not without positives, this young side are looking to play a much different style to the one the team once did and with the ball we continue to develop, time to cut out the silly mistakes and the results will begin to reflect performance.

The Devs got off to a lacklustre start and found themselves 3-0 down before staging a comeback which almost lead to what seemed unlikely points! Goals from Kalim and Brad from distance and a Jamie Trisnan close ranger after good forward play following in would see the home side score 3 goals of their own only for the visitors to score a 4th to take the win.

A disappointing weekend for results but plenty of positives onto next weekend!
