Youth Team win on Monday

The Youth team hosted Fleet Spurs on Monday night in the Combined Counties Youth league.

A very impressive 1st half display in which the home side dominated the territory stats. A number of corners and free kicks caused Fleet Spurs all sorts of problems but credit to them as they battled and threw bodies in front of shots to keep the hosts out. In the end it was school boy Louie McLaughlin in his first start that opened the scoring, he got onto Ben Vassell’s pass before firing low past the ‘keeper at his near post. Will Smith had a guilt edged chance to put the hosts 2 up but his shot narrowly went past the far post as Manorcroft continued to create chances, Ryan Porter was denied by some brave goalkeeping and when the half time whistle came the visitors will feel lucky to have gone in only 1 goal behind. That said they had created two chances off the back of counter attacks, one of which was converted but chalked off for offside, the disciplined Manorcroft ‘line’ was a feature of the first half.

The second half would see the home side continue to look comfortable and as the game wore on William Smith grabbed a deserved goal sweetly connecting with his left foot and his shot arrowed into the opposite corner. Oscar Syms had a good chance just wide and Blendi Tahiri was pulled down when through on goal late on as the hosts continued to create chances. With minutes to go some sloppy play would see Manorcroft take a quick free kick only for fleet spurs to steal the ball and break leading to a consolation goal.

Final score, Manorcroft United 2-1 Fleet Spurs
