Youth Team win at Leatherhead

12 Nov 2019 by Leon Turner

The Youth Team travelled to Leatherhead on Monday night in the Combined Counties Youth League. On a very cold evening it took the visitors sometime to adjust to Leatherhead’s style and a sloppy opening 20 minutes with the ball was then made worse after a mix up in the box would see Manorcroft give away a penalty. Converted with some venom Leatherhead took a deserved lead. The young Lemons grew into the game as the half wore on and after a testing pass on the Manorcroft left Ben Vassell beat his man before firing home across the ‘keeper. 1-1 at half time.

The second half would see the visitors totally dominate and Leatherhead struggled to break into the Manorcroft half with any real purpose as the visitors ball retention ground down their hosts. A free kick on the edge of the box offered the opportunity for Vassell to add his second of the evening as he skilfully drilled the ball low into the bottom right corner past the wall. The visitors created plenty more opportunities and it was just reward when after fantastic work by Ryan Porter, skipper Alex Franklin got on the end of Porter’s low cross to fire home. In the end Manorcroft probably should have put the game further beyond their hosts but a 3-1 win was more than fair following an excellent second half display.

Well done to this fantastic group, the Youth team host Fleet Spurs next Monday at Home (Bedfont Sports)
